Unloading With No Dock - Crane Vans and Trucks

To many people and businesses, unloading with no dock is a serious problem. To others the term 'no dock - no problem' means a problem solved! What would you do if you had a bulky delivery to make to a customer with no unloading bay or dock?

How about if an individual ordered something from you that had to be delivered to their home? How many private residences have docks to unload their goods. In fact, how many have fork lift trucks to help you unload a simple pallet, let alone a grand piano or a fountain for their backyard? None!

So you need some means of unloading your truck or van once it reaches its destination. Many drivers have limited time allowances for each delivery, so guess what they sometimes try to do? Unload it by hand! They may have a buddy in their cab, and might also rope in the receiver to help manually lift this grand piano worth over $10,000 from the back of the van or truck down to the ground.

Guess what happens? Yep - you got it! Somebody loses their grip on the highly polished surface, or slips and stumbles under the heavy weight, and the piano falls to the ground and breaks apart. Not only does your customer have a claim for the piano, but you also have a compensation claim from your driver and anybody else injured in the debacle.

Unloading With No Dock: Crane Vans

Now consider the situation where you use a haulage company that employs crane vans for such work. They know the potential hazards of delivering such items to locations without a dock or proper unloading equipment. By using the services of a trucker that understands these issues, you may be able to avoid such serious problems.

If you ever have a situation where you may have to unload at a location with no dock, then it is important to make sure that your drivers will never be faced with the decision whether or not to try a manual unloading.

You can do that by using a crane van to collect and deliver your goods. You can avoid the issue of damage to the goods, and of manual handling claims and personal injury damages, by utilizing a van or truck equipped with an integrated gantry crane to load, deliver and unload the items the customer ordered. These can range from the aforesaid grand piano to a load of steel bars that are way too heavy for anybody to attempt to unload by any other means.

Avoid Manual Handling Claims

Manual handling claims can be very expensive to you, whether through direct liability payments or increased insurance premiums. That aside, it is surely better to safeguard your van and truck drivers, and any other employees involved in loading and unloading goods, by providing the best possible handling equipment you can to your drivers and your customers.

That is what crane vans offer. These vans and trucks enable you to load and unload your deliveries at ground level. Why take the chance when the solution is here for you!
