How to Tell When It Might Be Time for Plastic Surgery

1. A lot of weight has been lost.

Certainly there are advantages to losing a lot of weight within a short period of time. However, this could cause loose and sagging skin, which is not attractive at all. This becomes obvious in the face and abdomen. Eventually, the skin's elasticity will improve and there will be less excess skin. There are times, though, when excess skin does not seem to go away by itself so it may need to undergo surgery. Based on the size of skin that needs to be removed, this may require a more advanced cosmetic procedure so it is important to discuss all possible options with the doctor.

2. The person was involved in an accident.

It is common for people to decide on advanced cosmetic surgery because they figured in an accident that has left a scar on them or disfigurement and they would like to restore their former appearance. A cosmetic surgeon can tell them if this can be done. Therefore, if they are thinking of this, they should bring a picture taken before the accident when they go for consultation and ask if they can restore their body to its former shape.

3. People would like instant, more lasting results.

Initially, over the counter alternatives tried worked for quite some time until it stopped working and did not deliver the same results as in the past. It may not be as effective as before or the results only last shorter like half of the time than they did before. Besides the recovery period majority of people who undergo plastic surgery can see instant results from their cosmetic procedures and these even last for many years. However, they should remember that those who undergo facelifts still age. After at least 10 years, they will still notice more sagging skin and wrinkles and need again another procedure to mimic the initial outcome.

4. There is enough time to recover.

When people get a surgical facelift, it is important to keep in mind that they need much time to recover since the body needs to rest. After the recovery period, patients will be able to see instant results yet may rest 2 to 3 weeks more to fully recover. They should find out from their doctor how long they need to rest for full recovery and the things they are allowed and not allowed to do while recovering.

5. Almost all available over the counter anti-aging creams have been tried.

There is a wide range of anti-aging products that can be bought from the local drug store. However after talking to all sales persons around, it has been difficult to find the products that could address facial wrinkles, stretch marks or droopy eyelids and this can get very frustrating. Any person who experiences this may want to consider plastic surgery.
