Holistic Medicine: Bach Flower Power

Dr. Edward Bach, (creator of the well-known Rescue Remedy), had a special purpose in natural medicine. In 1930, he discovered the first seven homeopathic flower essences, then "The Twelve Healers" emerged. He later completed the healing system consisting of 38 flowers remedies. The remedies would be the first of their kind ever to treat the personality. Fear (and anxiety), Uncertainty (decision making), Lack of Interest in Present Circumstances (inability to focus), Loneliness (talkativeness, impatience, and seclusion) Oversensitivity (sensitive, angry from loss, needing protection), Despondency and Despair (depression, hopelessness), were the seven groups which "represented fundamental conflicts which prevent us from being true to ourselves".[1]

After suffering near death exhaustion due to his intense work load.* He left a prominent practice in London, England in search of his all natural personality remedy. His intention was not to gain fame or fortune, but to help the sick and suffering with an all natural approach to total balance. This system would treat the personality, to treat the emotions, and balance the way a person felt "inside". The Bach Flower Remedies are an effective tool to claim total balance. Easy, effective, with no known side effects.

What lessons are we here to learn? Modern culture has preached the false doctrine of fear. This fear based condition exists from an attempt to balance spirit with material. This type of deception can never bring happiness. These conditions will teach us eventually, after "your nerves are gone, the heart is damaged, and the bones are aching".[2] However, wouldn't it be nice to learn to live simply and to move past these fundamental concepts? The faster we get back to balance the better.

How will I know that they are working? "The flower essences create a clear state of consciousness that affects the personality, the physical body, and the genetic code", states Dr. Bach. The flower system was designed to work with the human behavior and how a person feels, as that will be the basis of remedy suggestion. The repeating of the fear, anxiety, jealousy, loneliness, depression is the evidence that the lesson has not been learned. The behavior and physical malady will persist until the lesson is learned and the flowers will go to work when applied with the correct recommendation.

How do the Bach Flowers work? The flowers are not an essential oil like lavender, they are an essence. Meaning, they are packaged like a medicine that is preserved in high grade alcohol. This is necessary for the essence (or energetic potential) to be suspended, or preserved, until it is consumed.

When administered with the correct flower of the 38 essences, the Bach Flowers work to eradicate a persons core behavior, and balance it with the opposite attribute. Teaching the person how to look at or think about something differently.

The symptoms of any physical malady seem to just fade away, the emotions return to a balanced state. A sense of relief will appear. The flowers have an extremely subtle approach. If results are not apparent at first do not give up. Questions to ask: Has it been the recommended six week period of treatment? Has the recommended or self-selected remedied match the personality needs? Make the proper corrections and begin a new six week protocol, if needed.

Reaching to Others: Reaching out is a way to help to strengthen those close to you for the times ahead. Tell them about the Bach Flowers as you continue to understand them.

The way we react when in conflict with outside influences will be a determination to our ability to treat others "responsibly". Our energy balance and positive attitude will be affected based on how we treat others. Interferences will come in the way of rude or sarcastic people, car accidents, unfair employers, etc When dealing with these interferences, our imbalances such as depression, anxiety, lacking courage will be expressed as our emotional report card. This is the beautiful mix of human life. The patterns of personalities that we best learn from will be right there in our inner circle, such as our family relationships and loved ones, work relationships, and friends. The secret to continued emotional balance comes from understanding this.

How do we "Act Responsibly"? In order to treat others responsibly, we need to completely allow others to be what their own unique personality dictates. To live and lead their own lives, as well simultaneously screen our own actions responsibly. To master how we respond to outside interfering personalities is critical to this process. Dr. Bach has said to handle these situations as you would in a game against a "skillful opponent".

Total Balance [Authors Note]: There will be a definite need for a stronger personality in the times ahead. It is our ability to adapt to the changing world and continuous stresses. When we are balanced, we are happy, fun to be around and offer the world our best. In any health state the first step is to acknowledge that we know we are here to learn from ourselves more than anything else. The Creator of our souls has a important role in this process of learning and helping us. When our will is aligned with the Creator's will this total balance is easier to realize.

Does it work? When will I feel it? Most people feel a subtle growth towards the goal they are seeking to achieve. A recommended treatment is six weeks. During the first day you may have a complete breakthrough, or need to continue six weeks. Do not stop if treatment is working 50% or better.

The flowers work by faith in this process. By directing the method of healing toward the personality is a spiritual/emotional approach to medicine, faith is needed for the Bach Flowers to fully accomplish their desired effect, as faith is needed to perform any healing modality.

Where can I purchase the Bach Flower Remedies, and are they expensive? Most natural food markets carry the Bach Flower Remedies. The price for each remedy bottle is not expensive. You may seek out a Certified Bach Flower Practitioner if you need help on the suggesting remedies.
